Tasting Notes

Intriguing aromas of spicy strawberry and muscat mingle with plum, mixed berries, rose petals, and oak. The smooth entry bursts with a blend of fruit flavors–cherry, boysenberry, mixed berry, and dried fig - with notes of mocha and cinnamon. The finish is edged with bright berry flavors and a lingering core of creamy vanillin oak.

Winemaker Notes

Like a musical medley (an arrangement of interwoven melodies) each vintage of Acorn Medley is a unique composition reflecting the terroir of our Alegría Vineyards and our field-blending tradition. It includes more than 60 grape varieties. Our objective each year is to make a wine the best reflects the complexity of our vineyards and the character of the vintage.

January 2014 saw virtually no rain and 20 days of warmer than average temperatures. That got the vines off to an early start. The growing season was warm, with less fog than usual, and harvest was early as well. Our tradition, since 2000, starts with Bill’s co-fermented “base blend,” which includes Cinsaut, Mataro, Grenache, Viognier, eight different muscat varieties, and rare grapes such as Liatiko, Blue Portuguese, Einsett, and other table grapes. After eight months of barrel aging, we selected specific barrels of our other 2014 wines (each of them a field blend) to blend with the base.

The very small yields of the 2014 base blend grapes limited the total production. This year the Dolcetto stood out and was our starting point in assembling the blend. The new blend aged and melded for an additional seven months in barrel before bottling.

2015 Trecini Rockpile Zinfandel

Best of Class & Gold

Branham Vineyard

A bountiful level of vibrant fruit captures the most soft and more refined tannins for our Rockpile Zinfandel. 14 months of barrel aging in 100% French Oak, of which about 20% new, has created additional textures and dimensions, while still respecting this distinctive Rockpile fruit.

2017 Trecini Russian River Sauvignon Blanc

92 Points Gold

Los Angeles Wine Comp

This Sauvignon Blanc is a DELICIOUS wine with the aromas enhancing the flavors of Sauvignon Blanc. Fresh and decadently filling the mouth with a mouthwateringly array of dried tropical fruits, melon and pineapple. This wine is distinctively Sauvignon Blanc, with soft dried herbs, a nice citrus peel and minerality.

2015 Flying Goat Pinot Gris

Santa Maria Valley, Sierra Madre Vineyard

This ray of sunshine in a glass has bright acidity and shows Alsatian-style qualities due to the overnight skin contact. Richer flavor with intense aromatics complement the lovely minerality on the finish of our Pinot Gris. Enjoy plush cantaloupe across your palate and the luscious honeysuckle nose.

2018 New World Wine Club Artisans of the Wine Country Series Sparkling Brut

Lively bubbles and balanced acidity.

Enjoy a glass of your favorite sparkling wine while toasting to the artist who appears on the label: Carole Watanabe

Sparkling brut is a bottle fermented, off-dry (0.5% residual sugar) sparkling wine made entirely in the Lodi appellation. The fruit is sourced from within the Lodi appellation and harvested early to ensure ripe flavors and high acids. The base wine is carefully crafted before being bottle fermented. The bottles are lightly aged prior to disgorging. The style is young and fresh, ready for enjoyment.

2016 Trecini Russian River Pinot Noir

Vicini Vineyard Estate

Our Russian River Estate Pinot Noir vines were harvested at lower Brix, within the earlier stages of ripeness, which give this wine it’s spicy and perfumed nose while the palate is delighting with Russian River cherry cola, wild strawberries and other red fruits.
